I've been working on a very similar design, though I tried to avoid diagonals in mine. But I'm more than wondered at the similarities, so I decided to publish it as my gift to you.

@cayo: Thank you. You don't have to worry about similarities. It happens frequently, when you free your imagination within the confines of the same 3x6 or 3x8 grid, you end up with a similar font. But your font has just as many nice differences as many similarites. It is very kind of you, but you don't have to dedicate your work to me, because they are similar. We have discussed this syncronicity phenomenon before (remember Escher fonts).

This Cyrillic set is a sequel to my Eärendil and Elessar font. It uses some elements of Brego too. But I am not alone with this kind of design: funk_king (Madison Ave.) and CMunk (Ball terminator) has similar works, and there may well be some others. Similar works, but wonderfully different. We are all very happy about them.

I have some new ideas on how to improve the present desing even further. A Cyrillic set is less challenging than a Latin one in terms of variety of shapes. No f,g,s,w or z to worry about. In a way it is a better test ground for new ideas.

I encourage you to do the same: explore the unseen beautiful possibilities of this small grid and create pretty new fonts. And don't worry about probable similarities. Creativity means freedom.

I have absolutely no idea what that says ... but it is expressed beautifully (and knowing Frodo7 it will be something worth saying) 10/10

@p2pnut: Thank you for your comment and generous rating. The translation of the sample text:
(the) fellowship of the ring
(the) two towers
(the) return of the king

The screenshot was taken from FS preview. I was very happy to finally figure out how to type in Russian within Fontstruct.

sorry to bother, but i just couldn't pass this :) The word "ring" in Russian will be "кольцо" and the expression "братство кольца"

by the way, the font is very nice =))
Comment by unconscious 20th April 2010
@unconscious: Thank you for the correction. My mistake. I copied it from a Russian blog site without checking. It was suspicious not having the word "кольцо", but sometimes translations are not faithful to the original. Please, see the correct version above.
